We may have wondered some time
while crossing the roads or while giving our speed a breaker at the traffic
signal and some of us may out of his/her curiosity would have asked or inquired
where this traffic signal did came from? Who invented this and when it was
first forced to action? All of such
questions can be answered here with this blog. I have collected data from
different sources just in order to enrich your knowledge, and off course mine
too about the traffic signal, its origin and implementation.
The invention of the traffic
signal goes way back to the 19th century on 9th December
1868 in London where it was first implemented and was brought to use to direct
the traffic across the parliament street. Those were the none-electric and gas
operated traffic signals which were to be operated by the police officers themselves
in order to control the movements Roads which means they were a manual at once.
This was used nearby Bridge Street, great George Street, and Parliament Street.
This project was put on hold
after an explosion accounting to the injuries to a policemen operating the
signals. After almost three decades an American
succeeded this traffic system and promoted an advanced electronic lights that
focused on the similar issue and got more international attention. This also
marked the introduction of colorful light in the traffic signal with Green and
Red Colour which are still in use over the years. It was not possible unless or
until Lester Wire, a former detective in Salt lake city came up with his new
and most effective idea 1912 and traffic lights began springing up across the united
states. Shortly after. Many other Americans also come up with their
idea for the same one of them were Garrett Morgan.
Latter on it was discussed and
decided to use electronically controlled traffic signal instead of one governed
by the human being in order to avoid the extra costing on it and the first electric
traffic light was installed and out into use on August 5 1914 in Clevland,
Ohio. And thus then journey of the traffic light system began and it got worldwide
publicity then. Now it has been used in
most part of World and is getting more and more advancement day by day.
